Innovation is a big part of what we do — improving our own methods, helping farmers improve theirs, and helping towns and conservation groups put more shellfish in their waters. Real-time microalgae imaging
Monitoring the density and health of our seven microalgae cultures as they grow — so every batch of seed is fed exactly what it needs.
High-density shellfish farming
Refining gear and methods that grow more shellfish per acre of water, without sacrificing growth or quality.
Aquaculture robotics
Developing automation for the repetitive, heavy parts of farming — like this autonomous catamaran working the oyster lines.
Novel fish farming research
Investigating new approaches to finfish aquaculture, including juvenile tautog raised at the hatchery.
Town propagation partnerships
Supplying seed and expertise to towns and municipalities working to rebuild wild shellfish populations in their waters.
